Hello old friend;
so many years have come and gone
since I've seen your face
I think of all the holidays and seasons
that have rolled by like a train,
and in retrospect,
I realize that I've barely noticed
how much time has passed
I see the years we've missed
in the lines on your face,
and all the changes that come with age;
and I wonder if you're laughing on
the inside,
as you see that time has also caught up with me;
and my waistline,
and my hairline....
Every time I hear
the familiar sound of your voice
it's like a time machine,
bringing us right back
to where we left off so many years ago
as if we hadn't lost a day
It's great to see
you my old friend;
I hope that sooner rather than later
I'll see you again

I found your photo yesterday,
the colors were faded,
and the edges were frayed;
and it brought to mind
a pact we made
that we'd
always be friends
no matter what happened;
we'd stand side by side
until the end
I realize now
how our lives changed,
and how our friendship
would never be the same
as it was
before;
but our memories remain
Every once in a while
I think of you
and remember your
love,
your kindness,
and your stupid jokes;
and I remember
how much we laughed
as I
wipe my tears
from your photograph
We're no longer
side by side,
but you're in
my heart
and in my mind;
I only wish
you could see me cry,
to know how much
I miss your
smile
